Back again

So I keep getting internal messages to stick with documenting my journey down the aisle so I'm back again!

Let me see - where did we leave off...ummm...oh! I know! The new wedding date!

Well we thought we had November 1st all sorted - turns out we thought wrong!

Something kept at me to continue asking the wedding and reception venue for confirmation in writting that our new date was booked. That little something I am very grateful too as our dates were NOT locked in and we have since discovered November 1st was already taken.

Curzon Hall is booked out on Saturdays till 2009!!

Of course where there is a will there is a way and I wasn't waiting till 2009.

I sent Ben in to battle with Joe, our reception venue co-ordinator.

Ben and Joe speak the same language - that being the heavily accented European Espresso drinking women loving language.

2 hours after they met I get a call from my dear boy asking if Friday the 14th of November was acceptable. I agreed and wondered if being on a Friday we should get the venue cheaper but thought for now I would stay quiet. One battle at a time.

There we have it. The new date is November 14th.

My other behind the scenes battle was with the invitation company we wanted to use. It took 10 emails, 3 months and countless threats for the samples to arrive by courier from India. Due to my frustration I was hoping the designs were all horrible but as luck would have it, there was one I adored. GRRR!

I refuse to deal with that company again so I hereby declare I plan on ripping off one of their ideas and making it my own *evil grin*

I was trying to avoid hand made invitations but it seems the universe is pushing me in that direction.

On the weekend we popped in on Ben's parents to find his sister (who is getting married in December) elbow deep in ribbon, paper, double-sided tape and envelopes. She frowned at me saying "Whatever you do, DON'T make the invitations yourself!" and I laughed knowing I probably would but making a mental note to keep the design simple.

So that is where we are at - baby steps :)
