I'm still freaking out.
Its now the 3rd of January and I cannot shake this anxious feeling that I will forget something or run out of time. I really hope this feeling doesn't hang around till November :(
To try and conquer this dread I went back through my little wedding planner last nite and spotted a few things I could get started on.
First was finding a wedding celebrant.
Work is (thankfully) quiet this week so I had no trouble squeezing in some minutes for a bit of a web trawl only to discover Sydney has about 5,000 celebrants.
How do you choose a celebrant??
I had a look at a few websites and thought "maybe" or "no way" and then thought a way of culling may be to go on geography. Any that are too far for me to visit are out!
I managed to find 3 who I liked the look of and weren't too far to travel too.
Number one was just darn spooky - he has my brothers name!! Paul Forrest
Number 2 was a lovely lady who I spoke too earlier today. She has already done many many weddings at Curzon Hall (our venue) and kept calling me Darling, hee, hee. Wendy Bull
And last but not least was something a bit different. He is young, claims to be hit and sounded pretty chirpy on the phone. Michael
We are meeting Michael next week, Wendy the week after and I'm yet to hear back from Paul. One more tick I can soon add to my list of tasks complete.
I have to say I was relieved to spot that celebrants take care of all of the legal paper work when it comes to weddings. I saw notes on "intentional to marry" forms which must be done a month and a day before the ceremony. Then there was some other declaration. I'm all for paying someone else who knows what they are doing to sort that out, lol!
Also on the list of "to-dos" today was to scope out the Stamford Grand Hotel in Nth Ryde. This is the place I am planning on staying at the night before the wedding, then also getting ready their on the day. The horse and carriage can only travel up to 8kms - this was the hotel that was close enough to Curzon to make it feasible.
I poked around their site but thought it would actually be easier to call them or go there. I just have too many questions for them (one big one being is the horse and carriage going to be aloud in!!). I need to find out if they will give a room discount for wedding guests, how much a room for me and the gals the night before will be, how much a room for kids to be in would be (as kiddies arn't aloud at the reception). All that not-very-exciting stuff, lol!
I then went to contact "Sweet Stems" about table decorations - they are closed till next week. Darn it! I did discover though that if we get 10 table decorations the price drops from $80 each to $65. Not bad.
I pestered the new bridesmaids about locking in a day to go dress hunting - looks like the first Saturday in Feb is when I get to have my 3 gals duck in and out of change rooms while we each declare how much we must or must NEVER have a particular dress, lol!
And last but not least, I have tentatively set aside this Sunday to experiment with some DIY wedding invites.
Now you would think after doing all that in 1 day I'd be feeling more relaxed.
Well guess again. I just keep thinking of new things to do!
ARGH!!!
