Something blue?

Such an embarrasing moment.

I went to Arushie Bridal last night expecting to get measured up for my dress.

Late last year Jo Jo (the man who designs the dresses) called to say they had lost my measurements and could I come in again. I turn up in jeans and a t-shirt thinking all that will happen is the measure me then I'm done. After all last time I was measured up they just whipped the tape measure around the necessary parts and it was over in 5 mins.

I turn up about 15mins early and wander around. I wanted to remind myself that this man was worth the insane price tag, lol. Jo Jo ducks into the back room emerging with a garmet bag which he openend to reveal a canvas version of a gown....my gown!

He smiles and says "We found the measurements so we began making your dress. Try it on because I can see you have lost weight and I'll need to adjust it." I gulped.

The world went quiet.

Try it on?

I quickly realised under my jeans were super spiky unshaved legs (bad I know...) PLUS bright Blue underwear!!! My comfy undies.

Heh, I didn't expect to be stripping alright!! I obviously was not prepared.

I go in and do my best to look calm and complacent...avoiding eye contact and trying to hide the obvious blue undies and spiky leg hair. Such a bad combo.

But it gets worse...

As I slip into the dress I notice the skirt part is made of a very transulcent white fabric....and there are my bright blue undies sticking out for the world to see. The skirt may have not been there for all the good it was doing. Blue undies saying hi to the world!

Thinking "Its okay...no one else will see" I tried to comfort myself that they would adjust the dress in the change room.

WRONG!

Try out in the SHOWROOM where of couse about 20 people decide to come into the store all at the same time...and wait for it....some were men!!

I'm standing up in a stand in front of a mirror (the size of a building) ....with a see-through skirt on and BRIGHT BLUE UNDIES!!!!

So so so embarrassing.

Jo Jo's assistant tries to make light of it (as my face turns crimson) by saying "You may want to rethink the underwear color choice before the big day" and laughs. I reply with "Heh, I need something blue don't i?" and people around the store smile at me. I think probably in sympathy, lol.

Of course it was wonderful (And mildly scary, lol) to see the dress take shape. Jo Jo and I had concocted the design so along ago I didn't think it would ever see the light of day but Jo Jo is full steam ahead.

The fabric is in. Parts of the skirt have been sent away to be pleated. My next fitting is in 4 weeks!

Next time...there will be no coloured underwear in sight!! Oh...and no spiky legs ;)

Oh the shame.
